A highly debated topic nowadays is the housing crisis in UK. Leading experts says double the size of 40 cities but there are a lot of people militating for rehabilitation of existing stock.
In my opinion, there are so many approaches to this matter, ranging from futuristic ideas to economic green solution, it’s just a matter of accommodating this new necessity to the already existing important buildings. There is also an economic crisis right now and this push for new development might be sustained by that issue as well.
More information about the proposals for this can be found by searching the Wolfson Economic Prize 2014.
I am curious what you think about this matter. Are garden cities a necessity or are we just fooling ourselves by ignoring the great outcome that could be produced by rehabilitation of existing housing stock?
